What is it in the Filipino psyche that immediately raises suspicions about cheating wherever there is a winner? Couple #7 has 2010 votes, as I write this. Everyone in the family campaigned hard for these votes. Truth to tell, if everybody we had reached via email and text messaging had cast their votes, there should have been even more! Take a look at the probabilities: assume just 10 of us in the family (and there are more, I assure you) contacted 20 friends (and that's a very small number - because we each have more friends than that!) and each of these friends forwarded the messages to let's say 10 more friends, then the votes could easily total 2000. In this day and age of email and text message forwarding, to reach 2000 people in 1 week is a very conservative estimate.

Then consider that PollDaddy (the US based poll website that counted the votes) allowed repeat voting after all, as long as the next vote was cast some 24 hours after the first - something we happily discovered by accident - then we really should have expected even more than 2000 votes. And let me just add, that while perhaps all these couple have love stories worth making a movie about, I told Couple #7's story to everybody I could, and in so doing I got their oooohs and aaaaahs, and their votes.

Yes, young love will always find a way. And nobody had to call Garci!
