Sione & Helen (Holy Rosary Church, Friday’s Beach Resort, Boracay)

We’re back! Last week saw us flying to two destination shoots, all that amidst the crazy monsoon-drought weather that we’re having.

Our first stop was Boracay for Helen and Sione’s wedding. The bride and groom are from the land down under, with Helen being half-Filipino, half-Aussie while Sione is half-Tongan and half-New Zealander. It’s surprising that they chose Boracay for their destination wedding as they’ve never been to the island before. (Their first visit was just a week before the wedding!) Helen has been planning their wedding online with the help of Izy of Bells n’ Blooms and she was just delighted on how beautiful the island was in person.

Helen’s only request — take photos of her Jimmy Choo’s 😀

Sione was having a hard time fitting into one of his shoes. It turned out he only tried on one shoe when he bought them in Australia. The other shoe they gave him was 2 sizes smaller. I’m sure twenty years from now they’d look back at this moment and share a good laugh. 😀

The only time that it rained the whole day was when the couple was already at the altar. It poured buckets and stopped just as the ceremony was about to finish. If that wasn’t a blessing, I dunno what is.

One thing I love with destination weddings is how everybody is relaxed and how they really get to enjoy these special moments.

Boracay at this time of year is windy with big waves due to the monsoon. The famous Boracay sunset was a no show but we were blessed with soft light all around.

I always see the Tinikling as a part of Filipino weddings in the US but not here. This one’s another first.

Wedding photography hazard — this guy almost hit me with those fireballs. Lol!

You’d think they’re doing the cha-cha-cha… but these two were actually grooving to Rihanna’s Pon de Replay (what a funky first dance!)
