Jasper + Karen (Santuario de San Antonio, Peninsula Manila)

Posted by karl on 7 March 2010

In hindsight, it would seem obvious that Jasper and Karen do make a perfect pair. Jasper has the habit of cracking jokes while Karen giggles at even the corniest ones. They met at our school org, the UP Zoological Society; Jasper was a graduating senior, finishing his thesis and in a relationship, while Karen was a sophomore, an applicant of our organization and was being courted by one of Jasper’s close friends.

They seldom talked to each other then so it was a surprise that they ended up together. As with most modern love stories, it all started with Friendster. Karen was seeking advice on getting her medical residency in New York and well, Jasper’s profile read Status: single; Occupation: Doctor NYC. The rest, they say is history.

Of course, when Karen asked me in Facebook for supplier referrals, I gave her the best… Ernest Pascual, Veluz, Madge Lejano and Threelogy.

To match their oriental theme, the place card holders were take out boxes filled with fortune cookies. To Mr. Jan Michael Espino, this was your original fortune, but as Ms. Zenaida Seva says “Hindi hawak ng mga bituin ang ating kapalaran. Gabay lamang sila. Mayroon tayong free will, gamitin natin ito.”

Harley + Georgia (Sacred Heart Church, Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu)

Posted by karl on 2 March 2010

Although both based in London, Harley and Georgia decided to tie the knot last December at Georgia’s hometown in Cebu. The day started with preps at the Marco Polo Hotel in Lahug which was nearer the Sacred Heart Church. Twenty years ago, my family temporarily moved to Lahug due to my father’s work. I still stayed in Manila for school but visited my family as much as I could. It was fun looking for familiar places and seeing how some have changed and how some have stayed the same.

Harley and Georgia’s invite was based on a painting done by one of their cousins. It looked good invite-size but I bet it’ll be infinitely better as a full-sized painting on their wall.

(EDIT: It was Harley’s cousin May Ann Licudine who did their invites. Love her artworks! Check out her blog -Mimi)

Georgia was just radiant in her Jun Escario wedding gown…

Bindoy + Kathy (Madre de Dios, Tagaytay Midlands)

Posted by karl on 18 February 2010

Basing on Kathy and Bindoy’s wedding, I guess their top 3 priorities in life would be God, each other and coffee. If they could’ve fit all of their guests in Starbucks Tagaytay, I bet they would have had their wedding reception there. But they did the next best thing though, by hiring event stylist Badang Rueda to transform the Tagaytay Midlands Veranda to the biggest cozy coffee shop I’ve been to.

A Buzz Lightyear quote for their Paloma’s Nest ring holder:

Kathy’s simple but classy Veluz gown:

Jim + Pam (Discovery Shores, Boracay)

Posted by karl on 12 February 2010

In a few hours, we’ll be headed back to Boracay for another wedding. But before we leave, I’d like to share our first Boracay wedding for this year. It was a joy covering Pam and Jim’s beach wedding. Amanda Tirol (planner), Jason Magbanua (that video guy), Mimi and I were at a consensus that if every couple were as nice as Pam and Jim, and if every wedding party was as laid back as theirs, then we could do a wedding everyday! Well, almost everyday ;D

What better way to start a wedding than to have a toast! I think they all had a few glasses too many as they laughed at all of Jason’s jokes. Yes, even the corny ones.
